Hey…how’s it goin’?

Welcome to my blog. This is basically a written, paraphrased, and shortened version of the things going on in my head during the quieter moments of my day. I refer to the general cacophony of thoughts and things going on up there as The Big Steve Channel…so that’s what I’ve named my blog. There’s often a snippet of a song playing which was heard either recently or a day or three previous. As I write this, its “Let Your Love Flow” by The Bellamy Brothers heard on a Facebook post this morning. I predict it will be playing all day on the BSC…the DJ tends to fall asleep on the job with auto-repeat engaged. There’s often a movie clip playing as well…whatever fits the topic of conversation in my head. I tend to relate just about everything to a movie-line (as my friends well know)…I’ll try to interject those into the blog. My long-standing prediction for my elderly years is that I’ll eventually speak only in movie-lines and may even need to be institutionalized because of it (like Stephen Furst in Dream Team…”Swing and a miss!”). Eh, we’ll see.

I was recently married (still counting in fractions of years) to a wonderful, intelligent woman who has somehow encouraged me to do silly things like create a blog. I’m not sure how she does this…I just know that I would never have done such a thing (and many other things I’ve done recently) had I never met her. Also, she’s the nice voice in my head. Whenever I think nice thoughts about someone, it tends to be her voice I hear upstairs. For example, when the mom down the street holds a stop sign in the intersection to stop traffic while the school bus is loading/unloading, its my wife’s voice in my head saying, “Awww, I like that she does that for the kids every morning,” or something similar. But then it might be followed by my own voice saying something like, “Yeah, cause you know one of these assholes is gonna run into a kid trying to cross the street one of these days.” So I’ll include some of my wife’s voice in the blog just so its not all rant-ish.
